The first computer I had ever purchased with my own money was a Macintosh Quadra 605. It took me less than 20 minutes to unpack and setup the machine, to the point where I was using my new Mac. It was fairly intuitive, but nonetheless, I had my trusty Mac Bible to increase my learning curve. Since that very first PC, I have assembled and used only X86 platforms. It took me a bit of getting used to Windows, especially moving from the Mac OS to Windows 3.1. However, not to long after, Window...

I personally use a webmail (gmail) that I can collect locally using Microsoft Outlook. I do this so I can use my email wherever I am in the world, where I have internet access. However, I personally like collecting and creating my email locally. Why? I have many more options. One of which I am quite fond of is video email. So, do you use webmail, collect your email with a client, or both. What webmails do you like best, and whats your favorite email?

Will Stardock Continue to Develop new features for ObjectDesktop under Windows XP? I have been using Stardocks ObjectDesktop (OD) components since about the year 2000. Then OD supported Windows 98 and Win2K. Now I have been using Windows XP for a few years now, and have become extremely familiar and satisfied with XP. It suits all my needs, and is well configured to my taste. I have beta-tested Vista for a few months as well, and while it’s a fine OS, and sports many new and cool f...

My 66 year old dad has finally decided to become a PC end-user. As much as I love my dad, I cant tell you how exasperating it is to teach him how to use his new PC over the telephone from 3000 miles away. Ive decided the best way to both teach him how to use, and to maintain his PC, is to use an online Service. I have tried other software solutions such as MS Remote Assistance, Ultr@VNC, and the ever trusty PC Anywhere. He gets a runtime error whenever he tries to open a Remote Assis...

This is a Genuine MS product that comes w/CD key: *For 64-Bit Processors Only- Includes Service Pack 2 - Full Version, CD Set with activation key for license. The words "Not For Retail" is imprinted on the CD CD with Key Same as the retail version except it comes in a CD sleeve with the CD Key on the outside of the packaging. ...

Mirza Ali, his wife, Sameena Ali, and Keith Griffen were all three convicted in an Oakland federal court of conspiracy and fraud charges. These morons illegally bought and resold more than $29 million worth of Microsoft software between 1997 and 2001. They allegedly formed front companies and bought existing corporations to take advantage of a program offering reduced prices on software if it's resold to academic institutions. Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft said it lost more than $60 milli...

Ok, Ive been using SuSE for a couple of years now, and it shares a drive with my XP installation. Ever since I installed SuSE, I've allowed the GRUB bootloader to handle which OS to boot into. I'm thinking to load SuSE 10.1 onto my notebook, and I'm thinking I might find a better, 3rd party bootloader. I'm going to be honest, I can run SuSE under the KDE front-end fairly well; thats to say I can surf, burn and what have you. However, I'm hardly proficient with Linux, and have some difficul...

I sell on Craigslist from time to time, but this is the first time I've been attempted to be scammed on as a seller. Notice the info the scammer requests. What is so useful about this info. What is the worst that could happen to a seller that gives out this info, yet does not sent the merchendise?

I've had a couple of DVD burners w/LightScribe technology for a while now, but have not used it because I don't have the required media. Now that I've used up nearly all my older media, I'm thinking buying some and employing LightScribe. My question is, is it worth it? The media is more expensive. Does it "burn out" the laser faster than If I did not burn labels directly to the media, rather than use my trusty Sharpie to do the labeling?

I wasn't to sure I saw things correctly when I went to the FireFox homepage to download FireFox 2 onto my notebook. But much to my surprise, I wound up at the MS FireFox home page! I have not heard of anything about this, and it took me quite by surprise. Did any of you guys hear of anything like this happening? How do you feel about Microsoft's acquisition of FireFox?
