The babble of a middle-aged lunatic.

Well, it seems as the President of NWIC, Dave the moron strikes yet again. My ex-direct superior Dan, the most skilled painter in the company, was let go on Monday.

Dan, NWICs Executive Field Officer, has been a commercial painter in excess of 25 years, and IMHO is one of the best I've seen in my 15 years. The excuse he was given was the company could not afford to pay him.

Well, I don't see how this can be. If any of you know how Public Works and prevailing wage jobs go, all journeymen get paid the same, regardless of years experience and what have you. Thats right folks, none of us got paid any less than about $36/hr.

It came to me however, that as part of the prevailing wage Labor laws, us foremen were supposed to be getting roughly an extra $5/hr for which we were never paid.

NWIC always chooses the best times to let their most skilled employees "go". I was discharged 2 months after I was asked to relocate 125 miles from my established community. Dan was let go 1 day to late to collect an unemployment check before Christmas. Same thing happened last year to another 20 year veteran, whom held his own contracting license last year.

To date, the only employees left in the company that I know of are 3 or 4 Mexicans, who's total experience does not equal my own in years, an ex-paint store representative with little to no experience at all, and his son that holds even less experience than his dad. BTW. this ex-paint rep's daughter embezzled about $10K from the company not to long ago.

IOW, all apprentice level painters, and no journeymen. I might mention that NWIC passes these apprentices off as journeyman painters, and they get paid journeyman wages.

Well, the tides may be turning. NWIC has been kicked off of, several jobs. One being in Stockton where the poor contractor has a single, little-skilled painter, struggling to fix up all NWICs screw-ups before they open their very public building.

All the white painters that were let go for one reason or another are banding with each other, some of us with our own contracting licenses, to pick up all the work NWIC has been asked not to finish. It seems as the Rail Transit station is Stockton may be our first accomplishment. We will know on Monday.

If you have not had a chance to see what an asshole the president of NWIC is, you should have a look at the following links:

The tides are turning, and NWIC just may fall.
