What Christmas is for me.

First and foremost Christmas, or Christ's Mass, observed on December 25, is the day that I traditionally observe the birth of Christ, my Lord and Savior.

About two millennia ago, on a cold night in the city of Bethlehem an old testament prophecy was fulfilled when the Christ child was born of the Virgin Mary by the helping hand of her husband Joseph.

Around the surrounding area an Angels voice resonated the birth of the Christ child to the land surrounding Bethlehem. Those answering the call of the angel were the first people present to see Jesus laying in a manger.

It does not matter to me if Jesus was born in April, December or July, this is the day I choose to represent the birth of Christ. So for any if any of you religious “lawyers” have some dispute with that, save it for somebody that cares.

Christmas is a time for families to come together and commune with each other. I know, it’s tough for some families to get along for a whole day, but Christmas is that day for me.

Even though I don’t really care for the commercial aspect of Christmas, nothing comes close to the exuberance young children display when opening presents from Santa and their families. I know theres no such thing as Santa, but I don’t see any harm in keeping this piece of folklore alive for our children. I’d rather have them believing in Santa for a few years than looking up to criminals like Snoop Dog and whatever hiphop/rap degenerates kids look up to these days.

Great big huge meals, drinks, and conversation is what I crave on Christmas. It’s a good time to catch up with the family I do not see during the course of the year. Sometimes it’s only phone calls coming and going across America, but it sure is nice to hear from my people on this special day, no matter where they are. The nice thing about todays technology, is that video conferencing is common place.

Christmas is a time for generosity, compassion and mercy. Let the little things go, remember what Christmas really represents, and enjoy the company of your friends and family.

What does Christmas mean to you; more than a bunch of presents I hope.

I did one of these too...sort of....I was in the mood. It ain't Christmas without...a few things, like family, good food, friends, and yes, remembering why we do celebrate....The Lord and Saviour! The kids having a good time...priceless!

When most people act towards their fellow man the way they should for the other 364 days of the year.  That is what it means to me.
