The babble of a middle-aged lunatic.
Well, I walked in Monday evening to set up my account, for the 5 remaining classes I have to complete before my drivers license is returned to me. An ordeal that began in January of 2000.

I walked into this place, that was unlike the last I was enrolled in, a private institution. Greeted by a charming and witty woman, who really bent over backwards to accommodate me in so many ways.

Anyhow, she made it so my fist class began the following day on Tuesday, and my final class will be January 9th, just 3 short days prior to the 7 year anniversary of my DUI arrest. This is going to work out so well, I wont even have a sir-charge on my auto insurance.

So, I walk in on Tuesday, and instead of the drivel I'm used to, a fine, diverse group of DUI-schoolers, 3 of which are quite the "hotties" (always a benefit in these classes), were instructed by a very interesting counselor.

We were given a set of scenarios where various people were convicted of DUIs under various circumstances. Our discussion was based upon how we as judges would sentence these people.

It was Great! This extremely interactive 1.5-hour session flew by so fast, I never thought about having a smoke, for which I would have wanted at least three in that time span.

I can only hope the 4 remaining sessions work out in a like fashion.

I'm actually starting to get excited. 7 years without a drivers license is nearly to a close.

Yeeeeee HHHaaaawwwwww!

Seven years?

So, it wasn't your first?

My BIL just got busted for his (no kidding) 6th DUI in about 2 years.  He has never served time of lost his license for very long...certainly not 7 years....he is in Mississippi and my FIL taught the judge in high school....wonder if that's the reason he always gets off with a warning.."next time" will be worse.

I don't have a lot of sympathy for drunk drivers.  There are too many other ways to get home.  And in the end, a hotel room is much cheaper than a DUI.

Yeah, my first and only.

The reason it has been so long is more my stupidity rather than the legal system. After I was sentenced I skipped the state and galavanted aroung the country doing more stupid crap until about 3 years ago. I've been in and out of that darned DUI school a couple of times. Now I'm finally getting it finished up.

I havent been so stupid in the past 3 years or so, so now things are getting back into order somewhat.

Me neither. Its one of the worst things to get busted for, and one of the worst habits one can have.

I havent had a chance to test myself out, but I can only hope Ive learned my lesson. Otherwise its back to stupidville.

Good luck on the classes Xythe. I'm glad you won't be doing that again...I really hope. It sounds like you've learnt your lesson and that's a good thing! Hang in there and keep it going cause January is around the corner!
