A Brain Teasing Puzzle

Okay folks, back buy a somewhat popular demand....

1) How many minutes would it be before six o'clock if fifty minutes earlier it had been four times as many minutes after three o'clock?

2) How long would it take a 1/2-mile train moving at one mile per minute to go through a two mile tunnel?

Either/or. Good luck guys!

Nice job Doc Congrats!

I am still not getting it.  50 minutes earlier cannot be 4 times greater.  It can only be less.

This is not that easy Doc...it took me a long while.

26 minutes before 6 o'clock would be 4 times the number of minutes after 3 o'clock 50 minutes earlier.

26 minutes before 6 o'clock is 5:34
50 minutes before 5:34 is 4:44
there are 104 minutes after 3 o'clock when it is 4:44
26x4=104

AHA!  I just was not understanding what the 4 times was!  Thank you.

I had a very tough time with this one. It's strange thinking about time in these strange terms; very abstract to me.

No problem Dr. Guy, I was just having lunch and figured I would post the answer since I had some time.

There is one site that had some interesting puzzles. They also posted the answers. I can put the URL of the site here if you want or if Xythe wants the URL and he can post a question at a time and provide answers later. Your choice.
