I heard a report on the radio today that women were starting to smoke deliberately to lower the birth weights of their unborn children.
Unfortunately, I did not hear the entire report as the darn phone rang, so if anybody else heard it, feel free to post the particulars.
It seems as with advancments in medical technology and nutrition, babies are getting heavier and heavier inside moms womb. Now dont get me wrong, I have never givin birth, obviously, but I have seen many babies delivered. I have the utmost admiration for women during child birth. In fact, I feel a healthy woman giving birth comes as close to death as a health woman can get. Ive seen the pain and all the emotions women experience while giving birth, and I'm certain many teenaged girls have seen enough to make them a bit nervous about this big huge baby coming out of them.
It does not surprise me that these girls would want to have smaller babies. It's quite well known that women who smoke during pregnancy are prone to having children with lower birth weights. So, one obvious conclusion would be if I smoke, my baby will be smaller, and it won't hurt as bad.
Imagine that a non-smoking girl would start to smoke for this reason alone.
What do you all think about this ladies? I definately need a womans perspective on this one.
